IDEASWhen we take the time to learn each other's names, we acknowledge each other's presence and identity, which can help create a welcoming environment where everyone feels seen and valued. They can also serve as a team-building exercise that encourages fostering a sense of playfulness & community, increasing comfort and trust among group members.

ACTIVITIESName & Adjective
One person says their name and then adds an adjective that starts with the same letter as their name (e.g., "I'm Silly Sarah"). The next person repeats the first person's name and adjective and then adds their own. Continue around the circle until everyone has had a turn. Memory Game Everyone stands in a circle and says their name. The next person repeats the previous person's name and adds their own. Continue around the circle until everyone has had a turn. At the end, see if everyone can remember everyone else's name. Human Bingo Create a bingo card with squares containing different facts about people in the group (e.g., "Has a pet dog", "Plays a musical instrument"). Everyone mingles and talks to each other, trying to fill in their bingo card with the names of people who match the facts. The first person to get a full row or column of names wins. Name and Gesture Each person says their name and performs a simple gesture or action that goes along with it (e.g., "I'm Jumping Jack" and then jumps). The next person repeats the previous person's name and gesture and then adds their own. Continue around the circle until everyone has had a turn. Name ball A ball is passed around the circle. At first, each person shares their name as the ball is passed. Then, when everyone is ready, switch to throwing the ball while naming the person you are throwing it to. I'm going on a picnic Each person stands in a circle and says their name and add what they will bring to the picnic. The next person repeats the previous person's name, what they are bringing to the picnic, and then adds their own name and thing they are bringing to the picnic. Continue around the cricle until everyone has had a turn. |
